It carried on the story so swiftly and interesting that the running time of about 140minutes just passed swiftly like the wind. I don't want to be critical,but all the comic based Korean movies that I have seen sucked, including the horror film 'Apartment'and 'Dasaeposonyu'. Coincidentally he happens to cross the most skilled tajja in the country,PyoungGyoungJang(Baek Yoon Sik).Becoming Pyoung's apprentice,Gonni learns the skills and tricks,becoming a master tajja himself and earning loads of money.While he promised PyoungGyoungJang that he will retire once he earned five times the money he lost,he just can't seem to stop playing hwatoo.But the world of gambling is not pleasant as it looks. For a while he just visits illegal gambling centers,hoping to catch the tajja who took all his money. The story revolves around KimGonni(Cho Seung Woo),who loses all his money to a tajja while playing the traditional Korean gambling game 'Hwatoo'. Coming out of the theater, I thought it was the best movie I have ever seen. I myself didn't expect to be impressed with the film Tajja,which is based on the hit comic with the same name.
Rewatch value is high because of the great actings and the ending, I want to watch it again in near future.Movies about gambling are very rare in Korea,and none have been a smash hit. I think they tried to? cartoon feels by using strong sound but it distracted me. ?I found that background sound is annoying sometimes. Especially the main characters ?did great job. That's the reason that this movie seems to be great than it actually is. The description of gamble world seems to be realistic.Īcting is overwhelming with full of tension between all actors and actress.
In some way I feel that characters are exaggerated maybe its because the story is from cartoon. The story was typical but the characters were unique it describes character's intrigue, what they fear, as it goes I really fall into the characters. The movie just flows by focusing Goni and it was interesting to see how he change and how he does not change. So i could not understand the rules and details which seems to be important in the story but anyway its about cheat, win or die. The gamble is the korean traditional one, Hwa ttu. Rewatch Value 8.0 The story is basically about Goni becoming best gambler.
